We Three Monks of Austria are . . .

Last night I had a very interesting and delightful experience! One of my neighbors wanted to have me over to have some of Poland's version of cheesecake. (it is much dryer than American cheesecake and very tasty!) I was excited to go over and get to know her better.

I walked into her place and as we settled down, her doorbell rang. She opened the door and bam! 3 Franciscan monks! They were in their brown robes with hoods and everything! One of them, Philip was a former student of my friend and they were traveling from Austria to Katowice in order to witness one of the monk's "final vows" ceremony and to see him conduct his first mass as a priest. It was all very interesting.

What a cultural experience. We spoke in English, Polish and German. I mostly listened! I was fascinated with the fact that they were not sure what to do with me when I told them what I did for a living here and that I was part of a Baptist church in Katowice. I asked them about how they become priests and what they did during the day and evenings. It was all quite fascinating.

They were all excited to talk about the Pope coming to Poland and my friend is making arraignments to be in Krakow with the Pope comes at the end of the month.

It was a great night! I hope to repeat it soon!

Wow! What a unique and totally unexpected experience ... you move to a different country and BAM!, you're having tea with your neighbor and three monks.

Love it!

Guess what I saw (along the same vein) when we were in Germany last week at a conference?

Nuns running DVD duplication :)
