In Memory of a Dear Prayer Warrior

marytest-2005-09-11-02-07.jpg

As you look at the picture of this dear woman, please know that I have lost a great prayer warrior and a wonderful mentor. Mary was one of my grandmother's best friends and her grandson and I continue that tradition. Imagine, three generations of close friendship! Last week her heart got tired and one morning decided not to "get up".

Mary taught me how to love people. She was always smiling, laughing and loving others. If you needed something, all you had to do was to call and ask. When I was a kid, I think I spent nearly as much time at her house as I did at my grandparent home. She and her husband, Vic gave me a wonderful example of a Christian marriage. It was not perfect, but I NEVER questioned their love for each other and their love for God. My most favorite memory was when Chuck(Mary's grandson), my brother and I would be somewhere in the house and I would hear the loud laughter of Vic, Mary, and my Gramps and Grams. I want friends where I can share the tears of sorrow and joy like they did!

I had the honor of sitting with her last week as she struggled with each breath. The entire time that she was sleeping, she was praying. Oh, if I could ever have a prayer life like that! God gave me a blessed gift as I was able to tell Mary how she impacted my life and thanked her for her example. She was alert and heard every word.

So, Mary, you will be missed, but not lost. I will see you again someday and we will be able to laugh together and worship our Lord together again!

Thank you dear Mary. You and your prayers are part of the reason why I am moving to Poland.

Tomorrow we say good-bye to you, Mary. I will say "See you later!" I will see you again. Mary, say 'Hi' to my Gramps and Vic for me!
