A Time to Give and A Time to Receive

For those of you who have been on the giving end of Operation Christmas Child, this is what the receiving end looks like. I had the privilege and joy of participating at both ends this year.

Our church gave 28 boxes! They were combined with others form around the world. The kids who received the packages, are kids from very poor, hardworking families. It was both heart breaking along with having my heart filled with joy that we would share Jesus' love with these families.

The time started with the parents bringing the kids to the gym and a group of teenage volunteers took them to assigned groups. For the first hour the kids were entertained by music, clowns and a great hip/hop break dance group. Then the gifts were handed out and the smiled began!

This little girl touched my heart. It is hard enough to be a Downs child in a country where there are many places that help, but to be in a country where there are not as many and to be born in a home which can not afford the extra help is hard. Yet, this girl smiled bigger than any of the others. After I took this picture, she ran up to me and gave me a HUGE hug! Nothing in the world could have touched me more than that moment. I felt God's love for me in her touch. A very special time.

Here are many more pictures if you would like to see them.

Alice, that is awesome! Look at all those boxes and the faces of the kids receiving their presents. I'm so glad we did this and were able to be a part of giving in love through this project. Thanks for coordinating it and sharing the delivery with us.

WOW! Neat to hear about the giving end. Some of us from the SGC MOPS group went to the warehouse in Denver to help with the sorting and packaging of the boxes. (I posted about it on my blog). Much of what I did was sort the inappropriate items and some made it to one of my schools in DPS. Amazing how far reaching the work of that organization is!
