God? What are You up to?

Isaiah 55:8 & 11 (The Message)
"I don't think the way you think. The way you work isn't the way I work."God's decree. “Just as rain and snow descend from the skies and don't go back until they've watered the earth, doing their work of making things grow and blossom, producing seed for farmers and food for the hungry,so will the words that come out of My mouth not come back empty-handed. They'll do the work I sent them to do, they’ll complete the assignment I gave them.”

As I get back on my feet from being sick, I sit here wondering what God is up to. This past week He has granted JV (known as Fala in Poland) a wonderful facility about on hour south of where I live. It is a great camping, retreat, conference center that will grow into a gem of southern Poland. It is rundown now and yet beautiful. When it gets renovated, WOW! It will be wonderful. This is the start of other changes for me. I am getting ready to really hit the Polish language studies! I have learned so much up until now, and this fall and next spring I look forward to really concentrating on the language. My emphasis on ministry will be diminished temporarily and as hard as that will be; it will be for a greater future! Along with my new outlook for my immediate future, I also look forward to having fellow new missionaries come on board! There is a new couple whom I already love. They are from Mission Hills in Denver, Colorado and also a Canadian friend who is moving
from Poznan, Poland down here to begin a new area of ministry that God is leading her to. Anyway, with that and the coming of new missionaries to Poland and new facilities, roles and jobs get shifted around and areas that do not seem possible suddenly look like they may be obtainable.

My job is not changing, but what has seemed difficult to do is now looking more obtainable. It is both exciting and frightening! I want to do what God wants me here for and yet; I also want to keep my passions. This is where I must trust that God knows what He is doing and rest in that trust. This summer left me with one main question about the Polish people: What is God up to? What is He about in Poland? When I look at the numbers of young leaders in the country who are leaving the country to get jobs leaving scores of younger people looking for leadership, I wonder, “God? What are you up to?” When I see young people who keep on turning away from God even though they acknowledge that He is
the only way to Life, I ask, “God? What are you up to?” I see some great things happening in Poland and yet there are so many hurtles to jump and so many problems to have to work through. I wonder what God is up to.

It is only when I get on my knees in humility that I see what He is up to. He is up to writing His story in His way. My humanity does not understand nor comprehend His ways. Nor should it. I am His creation! My trust in Him is all that is needed. So, how well do I really trust Him?

oh Alice - I miss you! Thanks for your blog - so I can keep up on things in your life. I'm sorry I don't keep up as well, but I do identify w/ your comment to Pat about feeling "out of sight, out of mind." I think on my end of the blog - it's not that exciting, but I love to read about what you & Pat & all our long-lost Denver friends are doing. I guess communication is moving to blogs and myspace, since there's so much less phone & email contact. I guess I'll take what I can get! Anyway, I promise to email you soon with a personal update just for you! Miss you lots! Love ya!
