Nothing better after a good summer than a good cup of Starbucks in Berlin!

The summer is at an end and I am just now starting to rest and reflect on everything God was teaching me. What a summer!

Greg Carlson, my country leader asked me to explain the summer using only three words. I told him: good, hard, learning.

The summer was good! I got to be apart of leading 3 new camps in Poland. Many campers got one step closer to Jesus along with many of the American youth goups. God is working in the lives of this generation no matter where they live.

It was hard because I struggled leading this summer. Parts of me that I have not seen in a very long time came to the front to let me know they are still there needing to be given to God. I am still processing this one.

Learning because I learned so much about how to lead young adults and in some ways not so well. They are very different than high school students and this was my first time working with this age group.

We ended our summer with a short side trip to Berlin. The interns wanted to see Checkpoint Charlie and the remains of the "Wall" and I wanted to see the changes that Berlin has gone through since I was there in 1991. Wow! What a difference! I remember being able to instantly see the difference between east and west Berlin, but now. . . some of east Berlin is more modern than west!

I also got to go to not one, not two, but THREE Startbucks!!!!!!!!! I only had coffee in one though. I stepped in 3 of the 4 Starbucks in Berlin! Not bad for a 24 hour trip!

I am now spending time getting back into my Polish language learning and get ready for the things that God has for me to do this fall. Please pray for wisdom and the ability to set good priorities over the next 4 months.

Thank you for your prayers and emails. I am sorry that I have not been able to keep up on the blog. I will update my blog more now. I will also be simulblogging on my website soon!

ooh Alice - I miss you!! I'm learning a lot myself, but in a very different context! Glad you have had a good, hard, and learning summer. I'd love to hear more about what you learned about yourself & what God is teaching you. I'm sure I have my own things I could share with you. I miss having lunch with you!

Welcome back! I've missed you. Sorry you weren't able to "drop in." Maybe I can "drop in" up there next spring.

Love you.

I've been enjoying your infrequent posts about what you've done this summer. I can tell you were busy! If you'd like a break sometime, I'd love to invite you to Krakow for a few days. You're welcome to stay with our family and take in historic Poland.
